G20 Summit

Ramnagar was to host the G20 summit from March 28 to 30. As part of these preparations, the walls and roads of Ramnagar were adorned with murals showcasing the rich civilization and culture of Uttarakhand.

Leading this artistic endeavor is Kusum Pandey, a renowned artist and the first woman from Uttarakhand to receive the National Award in Fine Arts. Along with her team, Kusum Pandey had taken on the responsibility of capturing the essence of Uttarakhand's culture through intricately crafted wall paintings for the G20 meeting in Ramnagar.

Speaking about this initiative, Kusum Pandey expressed her excitement, stating that the paintings would offer visiting guests from various countries an immersive experience of Uttarakhand's vibrant culture. She believes that these artworks will inspire them to share the message of Uttarakhand's culture in their respective countries, thus promoting a deeper understanding of the region. Kusum Pandey hopes that through this initiative, Uttarakhand will gain recognition and appreciation on an international level.

Dheeraj Garbyal, the District Magistrate of Nainital, emphasized that all necessary preparations for the event, including the beautification of Ramnagar, will be completed well in advance to ensure a seamless experience for the participants.

The murals in Ramnagar depict various aspects of Uttarakhand's culture, showcasing the traditional way of life, the living conditions of its people, and the musical instruments that are integral to the state's heritage.

In recognition of her exceptional talent, Kusum Pandey was awarded the national award at the 62nd National Lalit Kala Akademi Award in the field of visual arts in 2022, further highlighting her contributions to the world of art.

The G20 meeting in Ramnagar is scheduled to span three days and will witness the participation of 70 foreign guests and 30 Indian officials. It serves as an important platform for discussions and collaborations on global economic issues among the participating nations.
