In a momentous stride towards establishing India as a hub for world-class conventions and exhibitions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the stellar 'Yashobhoomi' Convention and Expo Centre at Dwarka, New Delhi on the 17th of September, 2023 at 11 AM. This historic occasion marks not only the unveiling of an architectural marvel but also a significant extension of Delhi's transportation network, facilitating smooth connectivity to the new establishment.

At a grand expanse of over 73 thousand square meters, the Convention Centre stands as a testament to India's infrastructural prowess, equipped to host an astounding number of up to 11,000 delegates. The centre boasts 15 state-of-the-art convention rooms including a magnificent main auditorium and a grand ballroom, along with 13 ultramodern meeting rooms, fostering an environment conducive for fostering international dialogues and collaborations.

In alignment with Prime Minister Modi's visionary approach towards developing world-class infrastructure in the country, the day will also witness the extension of the Delhi Airport Metro Express Line. This development aims to enhance connectivity by linking Dwarka Sector 21 to the freshly minted station, 'Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25', thereby bridging distances and facilitating seamless transit for delegates and visitors alike.

A press release by the Press Information Bureau has shed light on the colossal scale of the project, revealing it to sprawl across an area exceeding 8.9 lakh square meters. With a built-up expanse that overshadows 1.8 lakh square meters, 'Yashobhoomi' proudly ranks among the largest venues globally for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). This groundbreaking facility, which demands an investment of approximately Rs. 5400 crore, promises not only extensive exhibition halls but also an array of state-of-the-art amenities, setting a new benchmark in the industry.

In what promises to be a milestone in India's journey towards becoming a frontrunner in hosting global conventions and exhibitions, the imminent unveiling of 'Yashobhoomi' unfolds a series of unmatched facilities that showcase the pinnacle of design and technology.

An epitome of grandeur and modernity, the Convention Center, which sprawls across a massive 73 thousand square meters, is home to 15 high-tech convention rooms. These include the majestic Main Auditorium and the resplendent Grand Ballroom, alongside 13 versatile meeting rooms, all together capable of housing up to 11,000 delegates. A prominent highlight of this establishment is the nation's largest LED media facade, offering a visual spectacle to onlookers.

At the heart of the Convention Center is the Plenary Hall, a structure that encapsulates grandiosity with a seating capacity for about 6,000 attendees. The auditorium within stands as a beacon of innovation, outfitted with an automated seating system that lends itself to both flat and tiered arrangements. Further enhancing the global standards are the wooden floors and acoustic wall panels that promise a top-notch experience to every visitor.

The Grand Ballroom, a marvel in itself, features a remarkable petal ceiling design, ready to host around 2,500 guests with provisions to extend an open area for an additional 500 attendees. Furthermore, the center encompasses 13 state-of-the-art meeting rooms spread across eight floors, tailoring to the demands of meetings of varying magnitudes.

Beyond the confines of convention rooms, 'Yashobhoomi' unfurls a world of expansive exhibition halls that cover over 1.07 lakh square meters, standing as one of the most substantial facilities globally. These halls are geared to host exhibitions, trade fairs, and business events, complemented by a grand foyer adorned with a distinctive copper ceiling. This area facilitates natural light filtration through skylights, engendering a warm and welcoming ambience for visitors. Here, an array of support amenities await, ranging from media rooms and VVIP lounges to convenient visitor information and ticketing services.

Paying homage to India's rich cultural heritage, the architectural nuances of 'Yashobhoomi' offer a seamless amalgamation of public and outdoor spaces within the convention centre. Visitors are greeted by terrazzo floors embellished with brass inlays reflecting rangoli patterns, and illuminated walls adorned with patterned designs. Suspended sound-absorbent metal cylinders add to the aesthetically pleasing environment, resonating with India's harmonious and culturally rich narrative.

As India gears up for this historic inauguration, the nation stands tall, ready to witness a landmark development that embodies both innovation and tradition, setting a new precedent on the global stage.

In a decisive step towards fostering a sustainable future, the 'Yashobhoomi' convention centre epitomizes environmental consciousness and infrastructural brilliance. This centre stands as a sterling example of the nation's commitment to integrating innovative technology with sustainability. Developed with a vision that pays homage to the ancient wisdom of India, while aligning with the demands of a modern world, 'Yashobhoomi' serves as a beacon of progress, ushering the nation into a new era of sustainable development.

Undoubtedly, one of the standout features of 'Yashobhoomi' is its unwavering commitment to sustainability, evidenced by its adoption of a cutting-edge wastewater treatment system. This state-of-the-art facility ensures 100% wastewater reuse, embodying the principles of conservation and responsible resource management. Coupled with robust rainwater harvesting provisions, it not only marks a significant stride towards water conservation but also showcases a forward-thinking approach to infrastructure development.

Moreover, the convention centre is a proud recipient of the Platinum certification from CII's Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), a testament to its environmentally friendly and sustainable campus. Not stopping at environmental sustainability, the facility is designed with a pronounced emphasis on visitor safety, incorporating advanced security measures that offer peace of mind to every visitor.

Adding another feather to its cap, the convention centre offers extensive underground car parking facilities, capable of accommodating over 3,000 vehicles. In a move that encourages green mobility, the parking facility is equipped with more than 100 electric charging points, indicating a clear path towards a greener future.

To facilitate ease of access, the 'Yashobhoomi' Convention Centre will be directly connected to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line through the soon-to-be inaugurated 'Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25' metro station. This addition promises a seamless and quick commute, featuring three strategically placed subways to ensure smooth pedestrian flow to various sectors of the sprawling facility. Remarkably, the Delhi Metro plans to ramp up the operational speed on the Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 km/hr, cutting down travel time considerably. This enhancement means that the journey from 'New Delhi' to the 'Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25' will be a brisk 21 minutes, adding to the convenience of commuters.

Conclusion

As we stand on the cusp of a defining moment in India's infrastructural evolution, 'Yashobhoomi' emerges as a glowing symbol of India's relentless pursuit of excellence and innovation. It heralds a new chapter in India's journey, embodying a seamless blend of tradition and modernity, where heritage meets innovation, and where sustainability is not just a choice but a way of life.

The inauguration of this convention centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 17, 2023, at 11 AM, is not merely an unveiling of a structure, but a revelation of India's aspirations, capabilities, and its unwavering commitment to fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and prosperous future. It signals India’s readiness to carve out its niche on the global stage, standing tall with pride, a beacon of hope, vision, and unwavering resolve, heralding a new era of resplendent glory and unparalleled growth.
