West Bengal's Terrifying Incident: A Gruesome Discovery Near India-Bangladesh Border
West Bengal's Terrifying Incident: A Gruesome Discovery Near India-Bangladesh Border

In the chilling shadows of West Bengal’s Basirhat, a nightmarish scene unfolded on September 26th. The somber streets of Swaroopnagar, alarmingly close to the international India-Bangladesh border, bore witness to an unthinkable horror. A passerby, most likely expecting a routine day, stumbled upon a sight that would haunt their memories forever: the body of a young girl, possibly still in her teens, with her face cruelly set ablaze.

This wasn't just another crime scene; it evoked deep fear and anguish, especially in a region notorious for various illicit activities, from smuggling to the much-feared human trafficking.

The community's hushed whispers and the anxious glances exchanged among them suggest a troubling narrative. The police, the ever-vigilant locals, and the selfless independent volunteers, all of whom have tirelessly worked to rescue countless girls, now face the daunting challenge of piecing together this grim puzzle. Was the innocent girl abducted, or did she unintentionally become privy to damning secrets? Secrets so dangerous that it sealed her tragic fate. Secrets so dark that perhaps someone believed they had to ensure she was silenced forever.

Despite the overwhelming dread that such an incident brings, the TMC's silence on the matter is deafening. As the streets mourn, many are left wondering when justice will come knocking.

The calm of Swaroopnagar, lying tantalizingly close to the India-Bangladesh border, was shattered by a discovery that speaks of malevolence beyond comprehension. Its proximity to a BSF chowki makes it all the more unnerving. One would expect such locations to be bastions of safety, but on the morning of September 26th, that illusion was brutally torn asunder.

Relaying the morbid details, Devdutta Maji, who spearheads the volunteer organization 'Singh Bahini', voiced the raw shock felt by everyone. "The body of the girl was found early morning on September 26," Maji solemnly stated. The scene he described is one that might have been torn from the darkest of nightmares. "It was a very disturbing sight. Her face was already on fire when she was found. The manner in which she was bound was beyond humane, reminiscent of a wild animal ensnared for sport. Hands and feet knotted, and a wooden pole across, suggesting a chilling image of her being hoisted by her remorseless captors," he recounted.

But there was more. As if to mock the very essence of her life, a "deep gash was evident across her throat," Maji somberly added. He, with a determination reflecting in his eyes, has taken upon himself to pursue the case with the police and local authorities, seeking answers and justice for this innocent soul. As the details unfold, one can only hope for swift justice and some semblance of peace.

The heinous nature of the crime leaves one grappling with waves of horror and dismay. As Devdutta Maji delved deeper into the possible identity of the young girl, he shared, "The girl seems to be a Hindu." He arrived at this conjecture, as per his statement to Firstpost, based on what seemed like a 'kalava' or the Hindu sacred thread discernible on one of her wrists.

Given his extensive experience and tireless commitment as an activist, Maji, who has been instrumental in rescuing Hindu girls from the clutches of abduction and trafficking, presents a rather grim possibility. He put forth the potential motives behind this barbaric act, hinting at two angles - either rooted in love jihad or as a horrendous manifestation of a hate crime.

Yet, his concern extends beyond just the grim details of this case. "As usual, the police would want to bury this case too," Maji opined, revealing a hint of disillusionment. Probing further into the horrors that might have been inflicted on the young girl, he conjectured, "If investigated rigorously, there's a suspicion that she might have been subjected to sexual assault as well."

He concluded with a grim note on the state's current affairs, laying bare his concerns, "Since TMC has come to power, it appears the safety and well-being of girls in the state have significantly deteriorated." This statement underscores a plea, both silent and loud, for the authorities to ensure safety, justice, and a brighter future for the women of West Bengal.

A Twitter user, identified as 🚩Mohan gowda🇮🇳, who goes by the handle @Mohan_HJS, recently expressed his concerns over the censorship of posts related to a harrowing incident that took place in West Bengal. He claimed in a tweet, "After posting about the West Bengal heart-wrenching! Horrific! Inhuman! Shameful incident, @twitter blocked me. Attack on freedom of speech." Mohan further shed light on the gruesome details of the incident, saying, "West Bengal: A teenage girl was reportedly brutally tortured, raped, and subsequently murdered. Disturbingly, her face, which was burnt, can be seen aflame in a video that has since gone viral, showing the horror that unfolded in West Bengal." The tweet underscores not just the brutality of the crime, but also raises questions about the potential suppression of voices highlighting such issues on social media platforms.

Chilling Details Emerge: Affluence Masked by Brutality

In the wake of this macabre discovery, Baduria Police, while communicating with Firstpost, remained cautious in their articulation. "The body seems to be that of a young girl," they mentioned, emphasizing the preliminary nature of their assessment.

Delving deeper into the condition in which the victim was found, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Abhijit Singh Mahapatra painstakingly detailed the grim state of affairs. "Her throat had been ruthlessly slit, and her face had suffered burns." His next observation added a layer of complexity to the case, noting that while they did not locate any accelerant nearby, a lighter was found near the scene.

What stood out starkly amidst the ghastliness were a few features that hinted at her socio-economic background. The officer pointed out, "She had 'mehndi' adorning her palms. Further, judging by her attire, it appears she hailed from a reasonably well-to-do family."

Addressing the next crucial steps in the investigation, the SDPO informed that the body was dispatched for a post-mortem examination, and they are keenly awaiting the results. He underscored the importance of this examination, stating, "Only upon receiving the post-mortem report can we draw any concrete conclusions about the exact circumstances surrounding her tragic demise."

Charred body of woman found in North 24 Parganas was identified as Somayya Akhtar Briahti, accused Nasher Mills arrested

In a subsequent turn of events, new details have emerged as reported by India Today, shedding fresh light on the circumstances surrounding the incident. This latest revelation offers a more comprehensive perspective, allowing us to delve deeper into the nuances of the case at hand.

In a grim and unsettling incident that has sent shockwaves throughout the community, India Today reported on the horrifying discovery of a charred body, identified as that of Somayya Akhtar Briahti. A native of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Briahti was an employee at a beauty parlour in Mumbai, pursuing her dreams far from home.

Local residents stumbled upon the sinister scene during what started as a routine morning for them — they had set out to gather flowers in a nearby field. What they discovered was far from the tranquillity of nature; Briahti's partially burnt body lay in haunting stillness, her hands bound to a wooden stick with thick ropes. In what seemed like an attempt to mask the brutality of the act, a scarf had been draped over her disfigured face before she was set ablaze.

Acting swiftly on the horrific report, the police undertook a thorough investigation, which led them to the arrest of an individual named Nasher Mills. The apprehended man did not hold back from admitting his heinous act, confessing to having taken the life of Somayya Akhtar Briahti.

Expressing his deep concern and alarm over the deteriorating state of law and order in West Bengal, BJP spokesperson Amit Malviya took to Twitter, painting a chilling picture of the crime scene. He wrote, "The chilling sight of a bound woman, her throat slashed and her face burnt beyond recognition, was discovered in a blood-soaked orchard, perilously close to the India-Bangladesh border in North 24-Parganas."

Malviya continued, laying out his dismay at the state's leadership, "Despite such heinous crimes occurring under her watch, Mamata Banerjee remains silent. One can't help but wonder if the perpetrators, possibly shielded by the TMC and involved in the odious crime of women trafficking, are to blame. If so, will this tragedy be conveniently forgotten and swept under the rug?"

Provoking further introspection on the political landscape, Malviya posed a final question that left readers contemplating the broader implications of the incident: "Will Rahul Gandhi, always seemingly ready with condolences when it serves a political purpose, publicly criticize Mamata Banerjee for her failure to ensure women's safety in West Bengal? Or will the binds of the 'I.N.D.I Alliance' muzzle his response?"
