The Quran is the source of all personal status laws in Islamic countries. Therefore, the rules of religious jurisprudence concerning the position and treatment of women are also based on the Quran. In order to fully understand the position of women in Islam, one must first examine the Quranic rules concerning them.

The Quran gives a man complete authority in marriage: "Men stand superior to women" (Q 4.34). The Quran justifies giving this authority to the man for the following reasons:

First, preference is given to him by the nature of his physical ability: "God hath preferred some of them over others" (Q 4.34).

Second, preference is given to him by reason of his financial ability: "and in that they expend of their wealth" (Q 4.34).

Apparently, this higher position of man does not change even if "a woman has enough money to support herself without needing him to spend money on her, or even if she has so much money that she can spend it on him." This preference is because a man has authority over a woman according to the Quran, the ultimate source of Sharia Law, regardless of his or her economic situation.

The leading authorities of Islam state that this ruling of the Quran is an everlasting one as reported by al-Aqqad:

"It precedes the development of civilizations and general legislations and remains past them."

In Islam, the wife is a slave to her husband. The Islamic traditions stress that a woman should obey her husband's commands.

Adil Butt’s wife likely had disobeyed him, or he thought she had, and that made her an unbeliever, for Islam commands a woman to obey her husband, and anyone who disobeys a command of Allah has left the faith. “And it is not fitting for a believing man or a believing woman when Allah and his messenger have settled a matter, that they should claim any say in the matter, and whoever is rebellious to Allah and his messenger, he indeed goes astray in obvious error.” (Qur’an 33:36)

Why would he stab her in the neck?

“When you meet the unbelievers, strike the necks…” (Qur’an 47:4)

A knifeman stabbed his wife 27 times in the neck in front of their young children in north Manchester. Adil Butt, 34, carried out the 'frenzied and vicious' attack on his wife of 12 years at their family home in Crumpsall.

He stabbed her as she was as fixing a vacuum at the top of the stairs next to their kids, aged three and four. Butt grabbed a large kitchen knife she had been using and inflicted 27 separate wounds to the front of her neck, several more to the sides of her neck, head, back, and defensive wounds on her hands as she battled to stop him.

The attacker then lied to the emergency services after his wife called for an ambulance, telling the control room that she had stabbed herself and he’d tried to stop her from taking her own life following the attack at 1 pm on 27 January 2020.

Butt pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, however, following a five-day trial at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court, the jury found him guilty of attempted murder in October 2021. Yesterday he was sentenced to a hospital under the Mental Health Act.

His wife describe the attack as the “worst day of her life” as she believed she was going to die, before explaining how hard the incident had been on their children... In her victim impact statement, Mrs. Butt said: "I don't know why he did what he did – only God knows.

"I can't sleep. I have nightmares thinking about why this happened. It's a struggle every day for me – mentally, emotionally, and physically. But I have to live for my children and I can't lose hope."

Michael Lavery, defending, made no objection to the proposal made by consultant forensic psychiatrist Ronan Brennan, from Liverpool’s Ashworth Hospital, that Butt should be given a hospital order to protect the public.

Sentencing Butt, of Saxelby Drive, Crumpsall, Judge Potter said the victim was “extremely fortunate” to have not been killed in the attack. He said: “You had been out with your family and had returned home for breakfast and to take your children to nursery.

"You complained of feeling unwell and went to your bedroom and your wife was repairing a vacuum cleaner with a knife at the top of the stairs on the landing near to your bedroom.

“You became angry and picked up the knife and attacked your wife with it from behind, your attack was witnessed by your two children who were nearby. Your wife was initially standing but your attack, which became increasingly frenzied and vicious, caused her to fall to the floor. It’s clear to me that your wife was extremely fortunate to survive such an attack given its severity."

Kim Irving, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “Adil Butt carried out a brutal and frenzied attack upon his wife with a large kitchen filleting knife after approaching her from behind.

"He did this in full view of their two young children, whose clothing had their mother’s blood on them. In spite of her valiant attempts to defend herself, she received numerous wounds and it is by fortune alone that none of those wounds proved to be fatal. As he begins this sentence, I hope that she can now begin to rebuild her life.”

Turkey: Muslim stabs his wife 46 times, killing her, gets sentence reduced because she ‘provoked’ him

In Islamic law and the culture that results from it, the onus is on women in so many ways. Most notably, women must cover everything except their face and hands because it is their responsibility to keep men from being tempted. If men are tempted anyway, it’s the woman’s fault for failing to prevent this. Consequently, as even the far-left propaganda organ the Guardian has admitted, “up to 80 percent of women in Pakistan’s jails are charged under rules that penalize rape victims.” And this clown gets his sentence reduced because his wife “provoked” him to stab her forty-six times. The idea that a Muslim man could be responsible for any wrongdoing he has done is virtually inconceivable. Think about all the deflection that we have seen over the years from Islamic supremacists. Jihad terror is the West’s fault, jihad against Israel is the Zionists’ fault, and everything is someone else’s fault. This is just one individual example of that mindset.

“Man gets sentence reduced for ‘good behavior, unjust provocation’ after stabbing wife 46 times,” Duvar English, May 25, 2021 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

A Turkish court reduced an aggravated life sentence jail term to 18 years for a man who stabbed his wife to death 46 times.

The court based its decision on “unjust provocation” and “good behavior,” the Doğan news agency reported on May 25.

The case concerns the murder of 37-year-old Tuba Erkol by his husband Bekir Erol on Aug. 18, 2019, in the Central Anatolian province of Konya.

Tuba Erkol initially filed a complaint against Bekir Erol for constantly imposing violence on her. The man however violated a restraining order four days later after its issuance and brutally killed Tuba Erkol in front of their children.

After the murder, the prosecutors prepared an indictment demanding an aggravated life sentence for Bekir Erol for “murdering his wife with monstrous feelings.” The prosecutors also asked that the defendant be not eligible for a sentence reduction.

During the last hearing of the case on May 25, in the Konya 4th Heavy Penal Court, the judges initially sentenced Erkol to an aggravated life sentence, however, later reduced the term to 18 years and four months in prison on the grounds of “unjust provocation” clause and the perpetrator’s so-called “good behavior” during the trial process.

The Turkish Criminal Code’s Article 29 says that a defendant can receive a reduced sentence if the offense was committed “in a state of anger or severe distress caused by an unjust act”.

However, the interpretation of what counts as “unjust provocation” is arbitrary at best, with perpetrators often trying to come up with several excuses in an attempt to influence judges’ decisions….
