Jharkhand: Ehsan Mirdaha trapped tribal girl using the name Badal, raped, killed her and chopped the body into several pieces in Khunti, arrested

In the quiet corners of Gumla district, Jharkhand, a deeply disturbing incident has unfolded, exposing a tragic tale of love twisted into a web of deceit and ending in a brutal murder. The victim, Archana Kandulna, a young tribal girl, faced unimaginable horrors at the hands of Ehsan Mirdaha.

Archana's life took a tragic turn as she encountered Ehsan Mirdaha, who, under the alias Badal, orchestrated a heart-wrenching plot. This sinister plan involved not only the rape and murder of the innocent girl but also the unimaginable act of chopping her body into three pieces. The brutality of the crime has sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

On Saturday (December 9), Ehsan Mirdaha's reign of terror came to an end as he was apprehended and swiftly incarcerated. This arrest provides a glimmer of justice for Archana and her grieving loved ones, but the scars left by the heinous crime will endure.

The unfolding reports reveal a disturbing modus operandi employed by the accused. Ehsan, masquerading as Badal, exploited the trust of Archana, luring her into a love trap that ultimately led to her horrifying fate. This shocking revelation underscores the urgent need for awareness and vigilance in communities to thwart such malevolent schemes.

As we grapple with the grim reality of this incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that persist within our society. Love jihad, a deceptive practice where individuals assume false identities to manipulate and harm their victims, has claimed another innocent life. Archana Kandulna's story urges us to remain vigilant and work towards creating a society where such atrocities have no place.

Archna Kundulna, a 21-year-old hailing from Jaipur village in the Rania police station area, had embarked on a journey of life that took her to Pune for work. After a substantial period in the bustling city, she returned to the tranquility of her village in November, presumably seeking the comfort of home and the warmth of familiar faces.

The unfolding tragedy took a sinister turn when, in the village of Fori, Gumla, the lifeless body of a young woman was discovered in two separate wells on Tuesday. The community was thrust into grief as the victim was identified as none other than Archna Kundulna. This heart-wrenching revelation adds a layer of sorrow to the already grim circumstances.

Archna's return to her roots in November suggests a desire for the familiar embrace of her village after the challenges of urban life. Little did she know that her homecoming would be marred by an unthinkable tragedy that would shock the very foundations of the community.

The identification of her body from two separate wells raises haunting questions about the circumstances leading to her demise. As the community grapples with the shock of this loss, it serves as a stark reminder of the vulnerability that exists, even in the seemingly secure confines of rural life.

In a somber revelation at Sadar Hospital in Gumla, Junul Kundulna, a laborer from Bano, unfolded the tragic events surrounding his daughter Archana's untimely demise. Within the quietude of their village life, Junul, a father to two sons and a stepwife, faced the harsh reality of a heart-wrenching incident.

Archana, having returned to the village in November, carried with her the weight of an unexplained leg injury. The simplicity of her homecoming took a tragic turn on November 24 when, in a desperate plea, Archana called her father. She sought financial assistance for a train ticket to Pune, revealing the challenges she faced.

Responding to his daughter's distress, Junul, on the following Saturday, urged Archana to Bano to collect the funds needed for her journey. However, fate dealt a cruel hand as Archana did not arrive, leaving Junul in a state of increasing worry and concern.

As the days passed, the void of communication intensified, and a heavy silence engulfed the family. The desperate attempts to reach Archana met with unanswered calls and an unyielding absence. The gut-wrenching truth unraveled on Tuesday night when the Gumla police disclosed the tragic discovery of Archana's lifeless body from a well in Fori village.

Junul Kundulna's narrative is one of profound sorrow, portraying a father's futile attempts to aid his daughter, only to be met with the cruel hand of destiny.

The victim, a 21-year-old girl, had her severed body parts, including her head, recovered from a well on Tuesday (December 5).

The accused, Ehsan Mirdaha, who also goes by the alias Badal, stands accused of luring the girl into a trap, subjecting her to rape, and eventually committing a heinous murder by cutting her body into three pieces. This shocking revelation has sent shockwaves through the community, raising questions about the safety of individuals, especially young women, in our society.

On December 8, the police made a grim discovery, recovering the deceased victim's hands.

The investigation further revealed the victim's identity through an Aadhaar card found near her mutilated body in the well. SP Harvinder Singh confirmed the identification, shedding light on the extent of the brutality that had transpired.

According to media reports, Ehsan Mirdaha, during police interrogation, claimed that he discovered compromising pictures on the victim's mobile phone. Allegedly being blackmailed by the victim, who had also blocked his number, the accused was driven to a fit of rage. It is reported that he called the victim to a local fair (mela) in Fori village, orchestrating a meeting on November 28.

The chilling account reveals that the accused, Ehsan Mirdaha, gained Archana's trust, persuading her to undress after his request. What followed was a heinous act where the accused viciously attacked the victim with a sharp object, believed to be a Tangi or an axe, ultimately severing her hands.

The brutality didn't stop there. The accused, driven by a macabre motive, beheaded Archana and callously disposed of her torso in one well, while her head met a separate, equally gruesome fate in another. The extent of this brutality paints a horrifying picture of the depths to which human cruelty can descend.

Identification of the victim was made possible through the recovery of her Aadhaar card, a somber reminder of the need for vigilance and swift justice in the face of such atrocities.

To determine the exact circumstances surrounding Archana's death, a medical team, including Dr. Arvindran D, Dr. Kisko, and Dr. Shakuntala Murmu, was formed for her postmortem at Gumla Sadar Hospital on Wednesday. However, the deteriorating condition of the body prevented the team from conducting the postmortem on-site. Consequently, the body was referred to RIMS, Ranchi, for further examination and a detailed postmortem.

Archna's brother, Aasim Kundulna, uncovered a crucial piece of the puzzle when he disclosed that his sister had faced threats from a local youth in Fori.

On November 24, during a fair near Lovagadh village, Archna found herself in an altercation with a young man named Badal. The disagreement took a sinister turn as Badal threatened Archna, cautioning her against speaking about the incident and implying dire consequences.

Amidst the fair, Archna, accompanied by the ominous figure of Badal, faced a situation that would set the stage for the tragedy that unfolded later. It was during this tumultuous encounter that the threat was issued, creating an atmosphere of fear and foreboding for Archna.

In the aftermath of this unsettling incident, Archna, having booked an online ticket for Pune, left her village. However, her journey faced an unexpected twist when she missed her train upon reaching Ranchi. This compelled her to stay with a friend briefly before returning home.

In a twist of fate, a few days later, Archna set out once again for Pune. The circumstances leading to her presence in Fori, Gumla, remain shrouded in mystery, leaving unanswered questions about the events that transpired between her return home and the tragic discovery of her body.

Crucially, the real name of the youth known as Badal has not been disclosed by the police, adding an element of mystery to the case. Law enforcement is currently refraining from commenting further on the ongoing investigation, leaving the community and Archna's family in suspense about the full extent of the events that led to this devastating outcome.

SP Harvinder Singh revealed a significant development in the case, stating, 'According to the accused's confession during questioning, the chilling details of the crime have come to light.' This acknowledgment sheds light on the progress of the investigation and the willingness of the accused, Ehsan, to disclose his involvement in the tragic incident.

In a bid to gather evidence, the police seized various items linked to the case. These include the deceased victim's bag and clothes, a severed hand, and the Tangi (axe) believed to be the murder weapon. Additionally, the police confiscated three mobile phones and a bike, all of which were based on information provided by the accused Ehsan.

The seized items serve as crucial pieces of evidence, offering insights into the sequence of events and the tools used in the commission of the crime. The thorough examination of these possessions contributes to the overall understanding of the case and aids in establishing a comprehensive narrative.

Amidst the ongoing investigation, Hindu Jagran Manch leader Sanjay Kumar Verma has raised concerns, labeling the incident as a case of love jihad. Expressing dissatisfaction with the ongoing probe, Verma asserted, 'If the police fail to conduct a proper investigation, our Hindu rights organization will demand a CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe.'

Protest Erupts: Outcry Over Archna Kundulna's Brutal Murder

On Saturday evening, the village of Jaipur in Rania block witnessed a fervent protest led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), marked by the burning of an effigy representing the Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The demonstration, echoing opposition to the ruthless murder of Archna Kundulna, unfolded near Tower Chowk, resonating with the anger and grief of the local community.

Ramavatar Bhagat, the district president of the ABVP, expressed strong sentiments, stating, 'Hemant Soren, who governs the state in the name of tribals, should resign immediately.' The protest highlighted concerns that since Hemant Soren assumed the role of Chief Minister, specific communities, especially tribal girls, have been disproportionately victimized. Incidents of love jihad, barbaric violence, rape, and murder have cast a dark shadow over the region.

The gruesome nature of Archna Kundulna's murder, where body parts were found scattered, drew attention to the severity of the issue. Bhagat condemned these incidents, asserting that they tarnish the image of Jharkhand. The government, he claimed, has focused on appeasing specific communities to the detriment of justice and safety for all.

The BJP called for the immediate hanging of the perpetrator responsible for Archna Kundulna's murder, emphasizing zero tolerance for injustice against tribals. Present at the protest were notable figures such as MP Sudarshan Bhagat, District President Anupchandra Adhikari, and former District President Vijay Mishra, alongside hundreds of BJP supporters. The event marked a collective outcry against the heinous crime, urging authorities to take swift and decisive action to address the pressing concerns of the community.

Calls for Justice Intensify: Demand for CBI Probe into Archna's Murder

Protest echoed through the premises of the Rania block office on Friday as Torpa MLA Koche Munda led a demonstration against the tragic murder of Archna Kundulna. Expressing deep concern, MLA Koche Munda highlighted the stark contrast between the BJP's commitment to the honor and self-reliance of women and the perceived failure of the Hemant government in ensuring their respect and security in Jharkhand.

In a poignant address during the protest, MLA Koche Munda decried the prevalence of daily injustices and murders against women. The brutal killing of Archna Kundulna, a resident of Jaipur village in Rania, Gumla, drew sharp condemnation from the MLA. He unequivocally expressed the BJP's strong opposition to the incident and called for a comprehensive investigation into the entire case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The demand for justice included the arrest of those involved in the murder, strict punishment, and compensation for Archna's grieving family.

Sanjay Verma, the State Coordinator of Hindu Jagran Manch, asserted that the incident was a meticulously planned case of love jihad, an angle he claimed the administration was attempting to downplay. Verma emphasized the resilience of the community, stating that such attempts by the administration would not succeed. He announced plans for protests across Jharkhand, seeking justice for Archna, and stressed the need for a CBI investigation to ensure a thorough examination of the case.

After the protest, a delegation led by MLA Koche Munda met with Prashant Dang, the District Development Officer, and submitted a memorandum to the Governor, reinforcing the demand for a CBI investigation into the case. The calls for justice reverberate, highlighting the collective resolve to seek truth, accountability, and closure in the wake of this tragic incident.

After the impactful demonstration, MLA Koche Munda extended his support to Archna's grieving family, emphasizing both empathy and tangible assistance. Munda met with Archna's family, providing them with essential provisions and financial aid, while also conveying a sense of assurance that justice would prevail."

Archna's relatives shared poignant details about her life, revealing that she had ventured abroad in pursuit of a livelihood due to challenging conditions at home. Unfortunately, even in a foreign land, she faced the grim reality of violence, underscoring the profound challenges many individuals confront in their pursuit of a better life.

In light of the tragic circumstances, the family urged the government to take swift and decisive action in Archna's case. Their plea included a demand for capital punishment for the perpetrators, underscoring the severity of the crime and the need for stringent consequences to deter such heinous acts in the future.

MLA Koche Munda's act of providing not just words but tangible support underscores the importance of community solidarity during times of distress. As the quest for justice continues, the compassionate gesture towards Archna's family resonates as a beacon of hope and solidarity in the face of an unimaginable tragedy.

As the details of this gruesome incident emerge, it raises concerns about the safety and security of Hindu girls in our communities. The accused's motive, fueled by alleged blackmail, paints a chilling picture of the darker aspects that can fester in society. This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for heightened awareness, vigilance, and measures to ensure the protection of vulnerable individuals from such heinous acts.
