Subsequently, the BJP And members of the Hindu Front filed a complaint with Thiruthani Deputy Superintendent of Police Vignesh yesterday. In that petition they said:

In the huts where the devotees stay belonging to Tiruthani Murugan temple, the temple watchers have eaten non-vegetarian food like curry, fish, and eggs in violation of Agama rules. There is a circular issued by the temple administration not to eat any food other than vegetarian food.

Temple Deputy Commissioner Vijaya has not taken any action against the erring persons. Action should be taken against them as per the Indian Penal Code. This is stated in the petition. In this, BJP District Vice Presidents Mullai Gnanam, Ramesh, Suresh, Ayyappan, City President Suri, Union President Veerabramma, Government Liaison Unit Milkha Muthu, Former City Secretary Ramesh, District Executive Committee Member Ravi were present.

The fifth house of Murugan in Tiruthani is situated on a hill. Thousands of devotees from various districts of Tamil Nadu and neighboring states visit this temple every day to have a darshan. To accommodate such visiting devotees, huts are being set up and maintained at the Karthikeyan house by the temple administration.

Complaints have come up against officials of the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Endowment(TNHRCE) board that they ate non-vegetarian food on a temple’s yatri Nivas premises. A video of the officials being served chicken, fish, and eggs has gone viral on social media. Hindu organizations have filed a complaint against the officials for defacing the place and violating the rules.

The Subrahmanya Swamy temple in Tiruttani is one of the six abodes of Bhagawan Murugan. It is a hill temple in the Thiruvallur district. As it is located near the Andhra border devotees from both states throng the temple. Temple administration had built rooms to accommodate devotees at the foothill. Rest houses named Saravana Poigai, Thanigai Kudil and Karthikeyan Kudil (Kudil means hut) are being used now.

The temple is under TNHRCE control, and so it manages these places. Recently, a video of some people being served and eating non-vegetarian food like chicken, mutton, fish, and eggs in Karthikeyan Kudil. Those serving were identified as temple employees, and the two eating were identified as HRCE officials Kalaivanan and Vidyasagar. The video created much uproar among the devotees who condemned the incident.

They point out that only vegetarian food is allowed in the rest house and devotees who come to stay here usually fast before climbing up the hill. BJP and Hindu Munnani have taken up the issue and filed a complaint with the police. They sought to take action against the officials and employees for violating temple management’s rule that non-vegetarian food should not be consumed on the premises. They also demanded that action should be taken under the Indian Penal Code for hurting Hindus’ religious sentiments. Hindu activists allege that Vijaya, Assistant Joint Commissioner of Tiruttani temple is not taking action against the accused.
