case of suspected grooming jihad has come forth from Raipur where Mohammad Wahid Ali has been accused of murdering his ‘girlfriend’ Monika Yadav.

Reports state Monika had gone on a bike ride to Nava Raipur with Ali but it was her dead body that came home. The family along with Hindu organizations including Bajrang Dal demanded that Ali be booked for murder.

Monika was admitted to a hospital in Telibanda by Wahid where she died subsequently. After learning about her death, Bajrang Dal activists and Monika’s family members reached the hospital on Saturday (October 15) evening.

A scuffle ensued between the activists and Wahid following which the police registered an FIR in the matter on Sunday.

24-year-old Monika Yadav resided in Raipur’s Siltara area while Wahid was a resident of the city’s Bhanpuri area.

The two were supposedly in a relationship for a while. Bajrang Dal’s Rishi Mishra and Ravi Wadhwani said Ali would also physically assault Monika. He was pressurizing Monika’s family to get her married to him. Monika’s family was opposed to the alliance.

Monika Yadav was employed with the Bank of Baroda. Monika and Wahid reportedly got into a fight a few days before the incident.

Ali had visited Monika in her office on the day of the incident. He insisted that Monika talk to him which led to an argument between them. He was in the bank till Monika agreed to accompany him and the two left for Nava Raipur.

According to Bajrang Dal activists, Ali informed the police that Monika was riding a pillion and she suddenly fell down leading to serious injuries to her head. Ali initially admitted Monika to Balco hospital but doctors referred her to Telibanda where she died.

However, Bajrang Dal has alleged that Wahid murdered Monika and presented the incident as an accident.

They further alleged that Wahid purposely took her to Balco and kept the matter engaged for a long time. Ali didn’t inform Monika’s family members about her death but he asked an ambulance driver to do so.

The police have booked Wahid for negligent driving and assured them that they would register a case of murder if they find evidence in this regard. Bajrang Dal has said it would undertake protests in the city if justice isn’t served. Further investigations into the matter are underway.
