"Success & all good things in life, start with a genuine concern for others": Supreme Court collegium publishing RAW, IB opinions on candidates for judgeship a matter of concern, crores of pending cases, delay of justice is denial of justice: Kiren Rijiju

Recently, the Collegium had published on the top court's website, a slew of resolutions containing reasons given by IB and RAW on why the government was opposing candidature of certain persons for judgeship

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Tuesday that the Supreme Court Collegium publishing the opinions of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) on candidates recommended by the Collegium for a judgeship, is a matter of concern.

The Law Minister, however, said that he will speak more about it at a later point in time.

"If a person is working for the nation, then he may think one day his RAW and IB files can be made public. It is a matter of concern.... It is a serious issue and one day I will speak on this," the Law Minister said.

He was addressing the media during a function organized to felicitate the award winners of the e-courts project.

Recently, the Supreme Court Collegium published on the top court's website, a slew of resolutions.

The resolutions contained reasons given by IB and RAW on why the government was opposing the candidature of certain persons for judgeship.

The Collegium had in its resolutions, also given a detailed response to the reasons cited by the government.

The Law Minister, however, refused to comment further on the Collegium resolutions.

He instead spoke about the e-committee of the Supreme Court and commended it for its stellar work.

"E-committee of the Supreme Court has been awarded the award for digital institutions enabling the differently abled...I want to thank CJI DY Chandrachud since under his leadership we were able to do all this in coordination with him. When he became the CJI I requested him that even after becoming the CJI, he should continue to head the Supreme Court e committee. It was my special request since phase 3 of the committee is at a crucial stage. He has agreed to it," the CJI said.
